Abstract

Against the backdrop of the increasingly severe global plastic pollution problem, this research delves into the application of intelligent labels and tracking technologies in the plastic circular economy from the perspective of the frontier of interdisciplinary studies, aiming to achieve the optimization of the whole link in design and recycling. It meticulously analyzes the challenges faced by the plastic circular economy, including the unsustainability of the linear model, waste and carbon emission issues, and the limitations of existing research. It further elaborates on the crucial roles of intelligent labels and tracking technologies in aspects such as raw material traceability, product life cycle monitoring, recycling process optimization, and environmental impact assessment. Through carefully designed experiments, the actual effects of this technology are comprehensively verified. The recycling efficiency is significantly enhanced (for example, the recycling efficiency of PET plastic is increased by 32%, that of PP plastic is increased by 27%, and that of automotive parts is increased by 28%), and the environmental impact is effectively reduced (carbon emissions are reduced by approximately 33.3%, and energy consumption is decreased by approximately 42.9%). Meanwhile, the challenges such as cost, data security, standards and regulations, and public awareness faced by the technology are discussed, and corresponding solutions are proposed. Looking ahead, this technology will integrate and innovate with emerging technologies, promote the research and development of environmentally friendly labels, and the process of global collaboration and standardization. Guided by policy regulations and market mechanisms, it will provide comprehensive technical and strategic support for sustainable development, is expected to reshape the pattern of the plastic circular economy and contribute to the achievement of global sustainable development goals.
